Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) is a humane way to reduce cat over-population by preventing unwanted breeding behaviors.
Our TNVR Coordinator, Hannah, helps caretakers plan and implement TNR as well as advises on feeding, sheltering, and caring for their outdoor colonies to save lives & stop the cycle of suffering.
Community cats that are too wild to be pets are returned to their neighborhoods in a TNR program after they have been sterilized, vaccinated and given a chance to heal. All TNR program participants must agree to take feral cats back or they will not be eligible for this program.
TNVR does not eliminate a feral cat population. TNVR provides feral cats the ability to live in harmony with their human neighbors, but it will not remove them from your community. TNR programs help reduce the spread of zoonotic diseases (ex: rabies), high kitten mortality rates and inhumane euthanasia of healthy cats.
Whenever possible, kittens and cats who are comfortable with human interaction will be socialized and evaluated for adoption. This is very dependent on the number of foster homes we have at the time, and the available space in them. Sometimes we are able to network with other rescues to intake cats when we are over-capacity.
